The NAACP deeply values education as a cornerstone of equality and empowerment. They recognize its transformative power to break down barriers, create opportunities, and build a more just and equitable society. The NAACP advocates for quality education for all individuals, regardless of background, as a fundamental right and a key to unlocking human potential.

Education that includes study and comprehension of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, is a powerful and necessary addition to the standard civics’ curriculum. Traditional civics often focuses on the “mechanics” of government (how a bill becomes a law, the three branches), but the resolution focus is on the evolution of the American experiment, specifically, how a system designed with deep flaws contains the internal tools to correct them.

This perspective aligns perfectly with the NAACP’s historical mission of using constitutional levers to expand the definition of “We the People.”
